Good Stuff: 06.29.07, 06.30.07 & 07.01.07

06.29.07 – ‘S’ dad’s 71st birthday. Way too much excellent food, as usual. Had a nice time and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

06.30.07 – A pretty lazy day overall but did manage to accomplish some chores that needed to be completed. YAY!

07.01.07 – Went to a gem & jewelry show and saw some really pretty stuff. Purchased a case to display my loose stones in rather than keeping them hidden away in a box in my jewelry box. Pretty.

Good Stuff: 06.28.07

  • I actually took a halfway decent photo of myself today and can use it as my icon rather than some random image. ;-)
  • The boss was still out of town.
  • I am heading out the door to receive my very first CASA case after spending many hours in training. I’m super excited to be doing something good for a child in need.

All in all, a pretty good day!

So Simple, But...

It seems so simple to remember things like a friend’s birthday but last year I forgot one and haven’t really forgiven myself since. This year I remembered and sent her a gift that (unless she has it) she is really going to enjoy. Baby steps I guess.

I’ve also been making an effort to reply to emails as soon as I get them so they don’t just fall by the wayside. Any progress is good progress on a goal like this one.

Good Stuff: 06.27.07

  • The boss is out of town. Yay!!
  • Will be having dinner actually cooked at home tonight!
  • I ordered a great gift for a friend’s birthday. I think she’ll really enjoy it!

Good Stuff: 06.26.07

Ordered organizational supplies from Franklin Covey to get myself back on track from an organizational standpoint. Can’t wait for the stuff to arrive so I can get started!

Franklin Covey, My Hero

I took a seminar a couple years ago and was my most organized after. I’ve let myself slide from using this method of organizing my priorities but will be back on it soon! YAY! I ordered a new planner today that will start on 7/1 (assuming I get it in time!). I ordered the Julie Morgenstern variation because I aboslutely LOVE her. I just wish I could live by the guidelines she recommends! Wish me luck on my path to organization… I am considering this ‘Step 1’.

Good Stuff: 06.25.07

  • Received compliment on how clean and organized my office was (at least as compared to the girl I replaced ;-P).
  • Picked some lovely flowers out of the garden and put them in an antique ink bottle. Pretty.
  • Impressed ‘S’ by doing a chore he was dreading, before he got home.

Good Stuff: 06.23.07 & 06.24.07

Saturday, 6/23: Dinner with family and friends after a lazy day at home.

Sunday, 6/24: Ahh, the art of doing nothing! Sat at home enjoying my day. Cleaned up my brows and polished my toenails! I need to get back to Sundays being my self-pampering day – I miss it a great deal.

Good Stuff: 06.22.07

Had lunch with SO today. Had a nice talk and I think he gets me more than I generally think he does. He’s a good guy and I am lucky to have him in my life.

First Step

Okay, I’ve taken my first step to getting out of debt. I’ve contacted a credit counseling agency and they are sending me information on budgeting. I will order a copy of my credit reports (a free tool online that was recommended was: http://www.annualcreditreport.com) and will then contact my creditors to try and arrange payment schedules. Unfortunately, many of my accounts are in collections and that scares me since I see them as being “the big scary guys”. I’ve got to do it though – no more hiding!

Why I'm Here

I am here to change my life. Sounds like a pretty daunting task at the moment but it's something I need to do and something I'm actually getting excited about. I've recently found myself in a slump that I am now clawing my way out of. I have found that over the years I have lost focus of the person I want to be. Who knows, maybe I never HAD focus to begin with. I know now that it's time for me to change things and be a better person - for myself and those I love. This is my start.

This information really isn't designed for anyone else so if you stumble upon it and think it's incredibly boring, move on. This is to document my thoughts and feelings and steps I'm taking to be a better me. For those of you on a similar journey, feel free to share - I'd love to hear what is/isn't working for you.

Wish me luck!
